Week 14

This week is our final poster submission week. So, we had consultation with sir during online tutorial class. 

After receiving sir's comments, I changed the font of the initials (LJ), and I showed him during online tutorial class. But he still not satisfied with my work, he said that the font choice isn't good enough. The font of small text such as "Grade 8 Piano, Sunway University" should be improvised also. He asked me to use more professional fonts like Arial. 

Then, I immediately changed all the fonts in the poster so that I can consult sir before class ends. And finally, sir is satisfied with my poster hehe. But he also gave suggestion to put a small paragraph of words in the right corner as there's negative empty spaces there. 

and TADAAAA..... This is my final poster. I'm so happy finally I'm done with the last assignment of this subject! 

Week 13

This week is a consultation week for our final poster assignment. Sir had a one to one consultation with every students in the class. 

This is my first digital draft of the poster. I showed sir and he said that the initials (LJ) should be connected/placed below the photo.  And he also said that the photo is good. 

 

Then, on the same week, I changed the composition and text. I put it up on the slides and commented on Google Classroom to ask sir to have a look at it. Then he replied and gave me suggestion on font choices, he said that the composition is overall okay, just the font of choices can be better. 

Week 12

We had online classes this week because sir had an eye infection. He checked on our Idea Development of the final poster. We need to find 3 poster references that is related with our design. On the idea development, we need to introduce ourselves and describe our work as a designer. During this week, many of us did not complete this work so sir commented on Google Classroom asking us to update our progress ASAP. During this week's lecture class, we learned to select and combine fonts creatively. We learned the rules, tricks and tips on how to combine fonts. 

Week 11

We were assigned to the last assignment of this subject this week. Sir asked each group to come to the front, and then he explained carefully. This assignment is called Typographic Self-Portrait. This is an individual project and we are required to create a A4 poster that represents us as a person and a designer. We are required to use expressive type, like name/initials and characteristics or personality. 

This is one of the reference that sir showed us in class. 

Week 10

During tutorial class, we continue doing the I Love Postcard assignment. 

This was my first draft, but sir thinks that this is too simple. He told me to focus on the text, only the text will be given marks, all the backgrounds are not that important. He asked me to play with the texts and fonts. 

This was my final postcard, I changed everything including the quotes, design and composition. Now, I understood what sir actually wants on this assignment, and he approved my postcard. 

During this week's lecture class, we learned communication research. We were taught to use text size, colour and contrast, typographic hierarchy and spacing to catch viewer's attention. 

Week 9

We were asked to find references for the postcard assignment.

Week 8

This week, sir assigned us a new assignment which consists of  20%. 

This assignment is to create a postcard using 2-3 fonts and we need to use a quote to do it.

On lecture class this week, we learned syntax and communication. We learned about visual hierarchy and why it is important in design. Visual hierarchy organizes elements to guide the viewer's eye, size and scale, colour and contrast, leading lines, spacing and rule of thirds to prioritize information. 

Week 7

This week, sir asked us to create a postcard using the font that we selected for "Famous Typographer" with the app Adobe Illustrator. 

We are supposed the find our ideas or inspiration from Pinterest.

Week 6

 Last Wednesday, sir gave us an assignment to submit on Monday, which is a digital collage. This time, we are using Adobe Photoshop to do the collage unlike last time the one that was done hand by hand. 

We are asked to do 3 digital collage designs. 

Week 5

In week 5, sir asked us to play a game called Bezier Game, to allow us to get familiar with the pen tool. 

I didn't finish the game because it's too long hahaha

Week 4

Famous Typographers 

This week, our lecturer taught us about typography. We are assigned into 2 groups and each people has to do 2 typographers we'll be presenting on week 6

Assignment 1: Collage Design

 

My first idea was to pour anything in the world from the vase. My ideas were coming up to my mind like the waterfall, it's just like the endless pouring vase. Everything was randomly combined and resolved, like the owl with a Superman logo or a weasel emerging from a shoe. 

Week 3

 First Collage Design:

Second Collage Design:

This time, my idea is to make a vintage style of collage design. These are all the clues that were combined in the inspector's mind, to track a criminal case. 

Third Collage Design:

This is a Black & White style design with creativity, fashion, and art. At the top left corner, the eyes and mouth on the drawing represent people on the Internet. Fashion and art exist in all timelines, species, and dimensions just like the horseshoe and airplane at the top right corner, they represent the the earliest and latest form of transportation.
